Still Remains The Agony Scene 3 Inches of Blood Bleed Art of Destruction
March 12, 2005
Trivium (L) and The Agony Scene (R) pose for pre-show pics. Things got very noisy soon after.
Art of Destruction kicked things off with some good old school Death Metal. Loud, brutal and with a technical edge. Very nice!
Bleed was next up and got the Hardcore ball rolling as well as the "Mosh Pit". Hi Volume, hi energy and dual vox made for an entertaining set!
Bleed had a huge contingent of fans present and their stickers & paraphernalia were seemingly everywhere.
3 Inches of Blood were next up and also featured dual vox. One shrieker and one screamer that frankly comes across better in the studio than live where it's much harder to distinguish. That being said, they still have a very unique sound that could be described as power metal with a hardcore edge. Tight band with some great guitar and solid rhythm.
The Agony Scene have mastered the art of the riff heavy hardcore breakdown. Another tight band that fit right in with the evening theme.
Still Remains took to the stage with a flying start! Energy was intense as even the keyboard player was flying around.
Still Remains melodic hardcore style was well done and are yet another band with twin vox.
Trivium finally hit the stage and delivered what the fans had been waiting for. An intense set that displayed all their considerable talent. Matt Heafy reminds me of a young James Hetfield (Metallica) with his stage presentation. Not a bad thing!
Trivium's hardcore thrash style could best be described as The Haunted with a dash of Killswitch Engage, both excellent bands as well.
Jaxx's new soundboard delivered Trivium's melodic guitar sound to perfection. Very, very nice!
Galen and AJ strike a pose with Trivium's Matt Heafy.
Another fine evening of sonic excess at Jaxx! Road Rage '05 was a lot
of bang for the buck with only a $10 ticket price. The close to sell out
crowd was treated to some great performances from all six bands. It will
be interesting to see who Roadrunner sticks on the bill for Road Rage '06.
