Dead To Fall

September 1, 2005

Ahhh - Death Metal !  You gotta love it.  In the death metal equivalent of the Testament reunion at Jaxx, Obituary return to home from an extensive tour of Europe and their first step on US Soil in full battle gear is Jaxx.  There was a lot of hype and a lot of build up.  Drama too. (Would Allen West be with the band or not?  He was & was superb.)  It was all worth it.  And then some!  Obituary put on a show for the ages and a show I never thought I would see in my lifetime.  This was simply the best Death Metal show I have ever seen.  Ever.  Thundering riff after thundering riff.  It was a non stop steamroller the whole set.  Precision drum work, blistering guitar solos and some of the greatest sound ever at Jaxx thanks to an imported sound wizard extraordinaire.  If you were there, count yourself lucky and have a memory for a life.  If you like death metal and missed this show, well .............. you seriously fucked up!  This was not the one to miss.  Napalm Death put on a nice grind set in support of their latest - "The Code Is Red....Long Live the Code".  Dead To Fall - up and coming deathcore metallers in the vein of Darkest Hour were also quite entertaining.  Local studs Krass Judgement unveiled some new death/thrash material and the always entertaining and solid Dead Syndicate showed why they are a band to watch for the future.

Obituary's sound guru Simon Efemey.  Simon has produced Paradise Lost (Icon, Shades of God, Draconian Times), Amorphis (Am Universum, Tuonela), Deceased and others.  A genius behind the board and a real bonus for Obituary fans.
