How do I get my band to play at JAXX?

Only bother if you are a National Act on a National Tour with an established booking agency or label (not your Mom, sister etc. booking you), or a successful Regional Act or Local (within 60 miles of the club). First you must contact Jay Nedry, the owner/booking agent. He will discuss the conditions on which you will play including price, tickets, other bands on the bill, advertising. Regionals & Locals, be prepared to sell tickets & have your fans come to the club and support you. A low turn out is certain to doom you from another booking!!

You can send promo materials to: Jay Nedry, Box 404, Aldie VA 20105 but the best way to reach Jay is by phone at 703-542-5656. Leave a detailed message if you get answering machine including: YOUR BAND NAME, YOUR NAME, SHOW INTERESTED IN, WHERE YOU ARE FROM and YOUR CONTACT #.

Why doesn't the booking agent call me back?

JAXX' booking agent is also the OWNER. It takes a lot of time to run a business and deal with musicians. He'll get back to you as soon as he can. He needs bands like you need work. There may be scheduling problems being worked out or he's asking others about your band!! Be patient... If you are long distance with little local following you probably won't hear from us.

Who is my Point of Contact at the Club?

If you are booked to play, the House Soundman will provide all details. You may visit him at Jaxx on a prior night to playing, earlier on the night you're playing, or by phoning him at 703-569-5940 (The club phone).

What is the order of performance for the evening?

It depends on the show, most shows are in the order they are listed on the schedule. A few shows the order is decided on the day of the show. Arrive at the specified time and contact the House Soundman or other House Staff member

What can I do to help boost attendance at my gig?

Bands use mailing lists, flyers, phoning friends and word of mouth to name a few. And of course there's always your website (you do have a website don't you?) and your MySpace and Facebook pages. When you are booked be sure to email the Jaxx Webmaster your website address. If you have played before and your link was used then the Webmaster has it on file and does not need another one unless your address has changed.
