Grays weren't cutting it, they were either too close to black or too close to the background. Someone had mentioned that the dates were standing out too much rather than the Headliners so I made the dates black and the headliners blue with National Support acts a darker blue, locals non-bold black, and links a light blue. Hopefully they stick out enough, I'm trying to avoid the mishmash of colors we had before and I'm trying to not underline links for a cleaner look, although if I end up having to I will. Thank God for Style Sheets LOL.

The thing people aren't realizing is that Jay doesn't WANT a hole in the wall feel

But it is a hole in the wall, thats part of what we love about it! It's like having a secret clubhouse to go to. A place where you can be yourself and not get looked down at by the snotty college kids.

I think that Jaxx should capitalize on the vibe it gives off naturally. It's got a really loyal fanbase and crowd, so why not give the website the same type of feel? Something stylized to show that it's a warm and welcoming environment for both local and national music. Right now, the gray doesn't have much personality, and the little picture banner at the top is a little too busy. What you could do is choose one really good photo to illustrate the feel of Jaxx, and have some graphic links rather than text. That would make the links more obvious, and save you from having to underline them.

Just look at band websites. They illustrate the band before you even know what music they play.

Wellllll, Jaxx is changing if you haven't been there in awhile. Very little black anywhere, just the ceiling. And while I know what you are saying and I may change things a bit I was asked to make it quick and easy and clean. I understand what you're saying about the banner, however I feel differently, it shows in one place the diversity of the crowds and bands without effecting load times or busying up a page. I believe the only browser it doesn't work well with is IE6 which really no one should be using anymore and support is being phased out by many big name sites. If you are using it because it's what you have then upgrade, if you are using it because your company makes you then ask them to upgrade. As to the links the nav links are obvious, the band websites are marked as a link and a different color, and I am still redoing the page that will be black with all of the logos, which will be links. So I am trying to accommodate all while keeping it neat and clean.
