Just Announced!

Um, how come there's no Just Announced! section anywhere on the Jaxx website? That's basically the only reason why I go to the Jaxx website. That and the calendar.  Webmaster needs to address this ASAP.

*sigh* it's coming it's coming. I was under pressure to get the site up asap so some things aren't done yet and I can only do so much at once. But trust me, I know what's missing.

Understood.  In the meantime, maybe you should have some sort of temporary list. Something on the message board that is only for admins to add to with all the newest acts coming. Just bare bones text would work fine.

It would be cool if the new Just Announced page has a RSS feed. Also, how about posting just announced shows on the Jaxx Twitter feed too?

An RSS feed is planned but very low on the priority list. We make so few announcements. Same with Twitter, I do it sometimes but lately I've been working on other things LOL. I will try and get better about that.

A simple way to get RSS going could be to use Twitter since every Twitter account has RSS built in. You could maybe even make a new Twitter account just for concert announcements and just have the post link back to the appropriate thread on this forum. That might be too much extra work I suppose but you could just post em to the regular Twitter account. RSS might be low priority but it's a great tool for those of us who use it, especially since the updates are rather sporadic. We don't have to check the Jaxx page all the time wondering if it has been updated with new shows, as the RSS feed will tell us whenever it does automatically.

What would probably easiest would be to keep the Just Announced board and people can choose to watch the board and be alerted every time a new topic (concert listing) is added.  This is what I've done and it's very convenient to get an email about new shows. 

Jaxxmin, I know that that board is supposed to only be temporary until the Just Announced! section is back up, but maybe instead you can keep it and have it as a supplement.  It can be open for the public to post, so people can say "hell ya, they were awesome at the blah blah blah show in November '07..." a good way to generate buzz and get the community involved.

With the original post you can have a link to the Just Announced! section and maybe some myspace pages of the artists and reviews of past shows from the band (when applicable).  Or if you feel like this isn't worth it, you can completely hand the section off to the members.  When someone sees a new listing, they can start a new topic and let others know.  Although, that may get a little cluttered and could result in redundant postings.

I'm sure I'll do at least some of what you all suggest, in the meantime "Just Announced" is back on the first page.
