I can't believe there's complaining about the changes to the place. Why does anyone give a fuck about the color of the paint? If it makes the place more palatable to people and ensures that Jaxx can keep booking metal bands, I want the place to look like Starbucks.
One of the major issues I see, at least from the standpoint, is the lack of 21+ shows and the lack of big name weekend shows.  Maybe im just getting too old (granted im only 26) but the teenagers at the show seem to only really be there to say they went to a metal show, this also could be caused by the lack of any real mainstream metal bands.  But most of the shows Ive been to over the past 3 years I see the same thing, a gaggle of 16 year olds who get there run to he front and just stand there the whole night without even really appearing to know any of the bands playing.  They never seem to get any kind of food or drinks and essentially get pissed off if anyone on the floor pushes against them (its a metal show the pit should be moving).  I can say that its this type of crowd that has made me stay away from a couple of shows I was on the fence on.  Im not sure if others are like me on this as well, but the young crowd that doesnt appear to know anything about metal really turns me off of going to random shows here and there.
I don't think anybody can just conjure up serious metal fans, dude. I'd rather Jaxx run off the allowances of 16 year olds than hold out for some imaginary group of real metal fans that aren't already going to Jaxx.

If you drink enough and close one eye and squint the other you barely notice any difference!

I love the whole place and i'm a big metalhead, its so clean and nice.  When there are shitty bands playing on stage you can go sit in the light in the sides.
