I'm seeing a lot of complaints on this board about the paint. From what I've heard, nobody likes the paint, but for various reasons. Some people say it's not metal, some people say it's not attractive, and they're all right in their own way.

What I've noticed is that with all of the remodeling (which is not bad, by the way), there doesn't seem to be any direction. The new color of the walls don't match the feel of the club, and that's not to say it has to be a "metal" feel. There are a lot of venues in DC that are popular and well-populated that look lovely and classy, and still have various types of music play (Latin, rock, indie, ect.) and the difference between those venues and Jaxx is that they have a direction. There doesn't seem to be any direction with Jaxx at the moment, which is it's biggest problem.

The idea of making it a place for more than just rock is great, but it's not going to happen if you suddenly throw in a Latin dance night and paint the walls avocado green. What Jaxx needs is a professional interior designer who can pull the look of the club together, and make it both attractive and functional. That doesn't mean spending a lot of money, but it does mean picking an actual color scheme. Right now, there are so many colors thrown around the club that you don't even notice the great parts of the interior. It's all been covered in the same shade, and the lights don't offset the color.

Jaxx could be so successful if only it could have a design overhaul. Again, I'm not talking a lot of money here.. just an actual direction for the club, the website, and the advertisement that would pull it all together so that people know what they're in for when they go to, and have a welcoming environment to enjoy.

I will pass your message on to Jay but we aren't in on a lot of things, it may be the Latin Promoter paid for the painting so it was his choice, I have no idea. If you can find a cheap interior decorator and someone that will paint the whole club for very little money let me know and I will get it to Jay.

One idea might be to go to a school that offers interior decorating as a major, like the Art Institute of Washington, and see if you can't set up an internship. You'd be able to charge less, and you'd have the benefit of working not only with professionals (their instructors), but with fresh talent. That could help bring Jaxx a better community reputation, as well.

I AM LOCKING ALL NEW THREADS ABOUT THE PAINT AND MERGING THEM INTO ONE THREAD. THERE SHOULD ONLY BE ONE THREAD PER SUBJECT.

As for the "direction" of the paint, it was to make the place look more appealing and more polished and professional. What one person might find pleasing someone else might not like it. That's the way life works. Get used to it.

The overall goal was to do away with all the black and make it look less dingy. I think we accomplished this. We do apologize if it does not meet with your particular sense of aesthetics. But you can't please everyone.

I'm the Club Manager. Therefore, what I say goes. So there.
