Welcome to the forums, MSC65.
I can see by your language that you are a supporter of gun rights. Personally, I don't particularly care to own any guns, but I'm also the type of person that won't tell someone that they cannot do something that they wish to do, provided what they want to do does not break any laws nor violate my own personal code of ethics. And on the latter, I still won't tell someone else they can't do it. I just choose not to like their decision.
There is no law in Virginia allowing or banning open carry. Therefore it is legal to open carry in Virginia. However section 18.2-287.4 of the Virginia code limits the type of firearm that can be carried and in which localities the restriction applies. Those restrictions do not apply to those who have valid Concealed Handgun Permits when they open carry, nor certain individuals in certain professions.

Virginia does not require firearm registration nor is it necessary to obtain a permit before carrying a firearm or other such weapon openly about the person except where prohibited by statute. http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_Transporting.shtmThe law is pretty clear that it is basically ok to openly carry a particular type of firearm in VA. However, I will remind you that while open carry laws may allow someone to have their lawful firearm in an establishment that serves alcohol in VA, it is the
strict policy of Jaxx Nightclub that
no weapons of ANY sort will be allowed on premises. We do have metal detectors and do check for weapons prior to anyone's entry in our building. We would not want to infringe upon anyone's Constitutional rights, however it is the standing policy of our club not to allow firearms or any other weapons on premises. If you have further questions, please PM me.
I invite anyone who is interested in this topic to comment about "general" opinions on Second Amendment rights from this point forward and I can then move this topic to the Politics area.
