Whats up when the troll at the front door? Anybody else have problems with him at 7MARY3.At one time,i considered him a friend..I heard by many people they were ''attacked'' that night and other nights..I think most people come to Jaxx to have fun,not argue or get treated like shit !! My wife say's,she will never set foot in Jaxx again..so that means i won't be attending as many shows myself..We were regulars at tuesday's open mic,not now..I attend 30-35 shows a year(not including open mic)..now i'll do 15 shows,maybe..As for the rest of the staff ,PERFECT,PERFECT.Staff member Joker is a great guy, always positive and funny..I been attending this club since the ''WILD WEST'' days and have not stopped coming since(except Boots days)..I've been spreading the word about Jaxx for years..worked alot of shows for free(its been a blast)..but over time things change..SO JAXX ITS BEEN FUN AND I PLAN ON MORE FUN,JUST NOT NEARLY AS MUCH...........G

A) Bob is not a troll. He is a seasoned veteran of 30+ years of being in a rock band and even though he is in pretty bad shape he still gets on a stool with his guitar and plays to the 10 or less people at open-mic night. He has done more for the sake of music than most people can ever dream about.

B) The reason he was in a foul mood is because a band was trying to stiff the club for the cost of tickets that they were supposed to sell and accidentally "lost." The sheer amount of what was owed would be enough to set anyone off on a tirade, especially when it is financially going to effect the club as a whole.

So next time instead of bitching and whining about how mean the old man at the door is, next time try going up and giving him a hug and asking him what is wrong. Bob will probably look at you with a strange look and make some remark as to someone being stupid but it gives him the chance to vent and he a lot nicer to other people afterward.

As for the other people who felt offended, the world can be a cruel and evil place at times and that world doesn't always revolve around them. Just because someone is a little bitter there is no reason take it personally. Especially when it was most likely concerning not involving them. More than likely they were wanting to go outside and smoke, which against the rules normally, but since since Bob was pissed off the very same reason that he was "mean" was also the same reason behind his reason for not giving a shit of people went out to smoke or not.

Most likely Bob won't ever come on here to see who is talking about him or the decisions that he makes. The flip side to that is most people won't ever go to Bob to bitch to him or discuss their dislike for the decisions that he makes. To some people he may just be the mean troll at the front door who takes their tickets and tells them they can't go outside to smoke. To the rest of us, Bob is the one person who has been there with Jay for the last 30 + years of their lives and has the knowledge and experience to make the decisions he does. He has also earned the right to be jaded and pissed off when some 20-something kid throws a hissy fit because they don't get their own way.

At the end of the human race it is going to be Kieth Richards, a cockroach and Bob, all talking about what a fun ride it has been.

Ah, so that's the famous Bob Gaynor!  Well, w/o saying too much one way or the other; I definitely feel more happy and appreciated upon arrival when Jay happens to be standing near the door greeting customers.   Cool

G.Rocker - While Bob can be a bit off-putting at times, if you've been coming here as religiously as you state you should be no stranger to Bob's character. I'm sorry if he said something that you found offensive or angering. But the right way to handle this is to send ME, the CLUB MANAGER, a PRIVATE message to allow me to deal with the situation.  I WILL NOT tolerate verbal abuse and name calling of an employee on these boards. While you are allowed to have your own personal opinion of any of us, this is not the way to go about airing your grievances.

If I see another outburst like this, or more derogatory speech against Bob or our employees, in this thread or anywhere else on the board, I will be forced to put you on post moderation until I deem the likelihood of another such outburst has passed.

If you have a problem with this, I suggest you contact me personally. This thread is hereby locked. Nothing constructive can be added to this, and I will not allow ANYONE to publicly abuse the staff in this fashion.
