Jaxx has a golden opportunity over the next couple of months to make up some of the money lost during the last 2 years. It is a miracle I've been able to keep the place open.
Many thanks to our patrons without whose support my efforts would have been pointless. Thanks also to the bands, agents and managers who have responded so favorably to my incessant pleadings.
What we need is to sell out some shows to generate necessary revenues. The Summer provides many diversions for mind and body - don't ignore us til September please.
This Friday Ratt returns with a new album and 3 great support acts. J. Paris with John Corabi and my Bro Nick from Burn the Fields have one Hell of an act along with Jaxx house band Baby Jayne and Shokker. We don't do that many 21 and up 80's shows anymore so we need the "Hair Nation" to show up in large numbers. Email and call your friends.
Dark Tranquillity on 5/12. The Guitar Center night featuring acts from the Guitar Center Fairfax and in a rare early evening slot The Legendary Roadducks return for their 1018th appearance at Jaxx since 1979. Everyone pisses and moans we go on so late most nights, well here we go at 8:00 PM on Friday 5/14.
The 17th Karma to Burn, Year Long Disaster and local boys Soul who have one Hell of an act. The 18th is Richie Kotzen, guitar whiz formerly with Poison along with ZO2. We need local support for both the 17th and 18th so bands get off your lazy ass and call me.
The 20th features the incomparable Tony Levin. His credits are extraordinary. Google this guy and the cats in his band. This night is a musician's dream come true.
The 21st is the return of Germany's Primal Fear along with Havok and Metal Mike. Cypher Lock, Sound of Thunder and Brutallion provide excellent local support.
Saturday 5/22 is the Shahin Sharifi Benefit. Come and support long time local bass player and good guy Shahin who has had a run of bad luck. This will have great talent and should be a reunion of many long time Jaxx and local music supporters and groups.
Coming in June on 6/3 is Fear Factory with Prong, Silent Civilian, Thy Will Be Done and local up and comers Loculus.
The 4th is the return of Lizzy Borden.
6/22 Tuesday night features Gregg Rolie, lead vocalist and co-founding member of Santana and Journey. His is the voice of Black Magic Woman and all the early Santana hits. Along with 3 members of the Santana band. This is a rare opportunity to see a Vegas type Arena act in an intimate setting. He starts at 9:00 PM so this will NOT be a late night. Too good a show to miss.
July 1st is the return of (hed)p.e. They always sell out Jaxx so definitely get tickets early.
Soilwork 7/14 and Toxin on 7/29.
And July 30th The Michael Schenker Group (with the incredible Carmine Appice on drums, Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Jeff Beck etc.) along with Jaxx favorite and LONG time supporter and friend George Lynch and Lynch Mob. These 2 on the same night will be pretty spectacular.
8/6 - Friday Faster Pussycat and L.A. Guns featuring Traci Guns and the new John Corabi band.
The 8th is the return of the legendary Y & T.
The 10th, armed with a new album, is the return of Vanilla Ice. Another act with a great show who also ALWAYS sells out.
Powerglove headlines 8/1.
And Funny Money plays the Jaxx 16 year anniversary party with a retro $5 cover. 16 years of great shows and legendary acts. Come help us celebrate 16 years.
September is the return of Raven, Kix and Kamelot along with Almost Queen, a tribute act of incredible acumen and finesse. I don't normally do Tribute acts but these New Yorkers are mind blowing. If you like Queen you will LOVE this act.
Help us out and attend some shows this Summer. Tell your friends and co-workers. Bands respond to opening act slots and thank you for keeping the doors open and the lights on at Jaxx.
Many Thanks,
Jay
